Worthington Minnesota
Well, another road trip this weekend to Worthington Minnesota for the Unvarnished Music Festival and Windsurfing Regatta. Paul and I made this trip in 2003 for the US Windsurfing Nationals and had so much fun, we figured it’s time to get back again. This year Surfer-Boy-Strad will be coming along for his first windsurfing road trip. I’ll update with some pics from Worthington.

The Canadians have arrived! The drive took us 12 hours including stops, so that was pretty good. We already met up with a few people we know. That was great! The main organizer Bill Keitel has already told us that they’ll be having a Canadian Night on the big stage, so it should be interesting!! I’m happy Paul is a musician then we won’t look like too big of fools trying to sing in front of hundreds of people
Just checked in the hotel, we are on a wireless network so that’s cool!!
Looks like it’s time for a couple of pints!!!!

Glad to hear everyone arrived safe and sound. You guys better practice up on your singing/dancing/whatever else you might be doing on stage. Hey, I wonder if they have ever seen how much beer Canadians can drink?@#@#?

Good morning, Just getting out of bed. Should be windsurfing by 10:00 if Woody gets his butt moving. Brenna don’t get to attached to my bed,just keep it warm.

Just thought I would update you with some pleasant thoughts on whats happening at home while the dads are away. Josh and I are haveing a HUGE party while Surfy’s working friday night, another party Saturday and Sunday we are going to study (yeah right)!!! Dont worry, everything will get broken and we wont clean anything up!!

We sailed today in light winds, sat around catching up with everyone, and now have just returned from a great steak supper at the “Long Ranch”. We’re gonna lay down for an hour then head back to the event site for music, dancing (yeah right) and more fellowship.

Ball’s over for the year, we took 1st place in B side and 3rd over-all not bad eh! We had another HUGE come back we were loseing 3-12 and in one inning got 17 runs in. We ended up winning by one! Lots to tell you so call (bruce)
**Quick Update**
we managed to get 5 races in on Saturday. The wind was blowing up to 30 knots in the final 3 races….YIKES!! Relaxing in the hot tub and sauna sure felt good last night!
Some more racing today, then on the road back home.

**Update**
We drove over 8 hrs now and we’re all pretty tired, so we decided to hit a hotel in Virginia, Mn.
We have been taking lots of pictures!! Unfourtunately I have no way to resize them foir posting on the blog. I’ll be sure to make a photo album when I get home.
Guess what!? I placed 3rd in my class and 4th overall in the whole regatta out of 45 racers!! I’m so stoked!! I’ll tell ya guys all about it when I see y’all!
Everyone says hi including the other two Canucks. Strad is in his glory right now laying down with his sheep skin slippers on….

Thanks for a really fun weekend boys, hopefully you are home safe from a long roadtrip. I got home ok yesterday around 8:30 PM, the drive home went fine. Tonight we are dodging Thunderstorms and tornados left and right here in Iowa. 2 inch hail dropped just a few miles north of my house this afternoon. I will post some pics on my blog tomorrow, have to get them off the other computer and upload them. Can’t wait to see you guys in a few weeks, hopefully at the Mosefest Regatta, if not there for sure at the Madeleine Island one. I am stoked to try the longboard stuff as well. Woody and Paul, watch out, I am going to “pump” practice without my board from now until the next regatta, extra push ups every night…

Worthington Windsurfers salute Woody and Team Canada! You guys were a great addition to the regatta and festival. (For those of you back in Canada) They were surprizing well behaved.
They seized the day when it came to sailing & photo op’s, (including one they haven’t seen yet) Recently submitted to Windsurfing Magazine.
Next year, bring the Canadian Flag, we’ll find a place of prominence.
The year long effort of regatta and festival planning has its rewards when folks like you show up!
